Ways You Can Help

Funding Needs

Carson City Literacy Volunteers receives no government funding and relies entirely on donations from individuals or businesses. Our tutoring services are provided to students free of charge. We are an all-volunteer organization and have no paid staff. We exist on an extremely minimal budget. Outside of the usual expenses for rent and utilities, our biggest expense is for tutor and student books and materials used to teach reading. We are a qualified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and all contributions made to us are deductible to the full extent of the law

Ways you can help:

  • Volunteer your time as a tutor to teach someone to read and write.

  • Contribute supplies or other needed items.

  • Provide in-kind services such as printing, copying, or refreshments for meetings

  • Make a donation:
$10 will buy a teaching manual for tutors
$25 will buy a set of student readers and workbooks
