Adults and children who have difficulty with reading feel that they are the only one in the world who cannot read. Yet the reality is that over 10% of individuals in the Carson City area are functionally illiterate.
Those who cannot read often feel that they must be stupid, but the truth is that just as some people are naturally good at math while others are not, some people are naturally good at reading while others are not.
If you, or your child, or someone you know struggles with reading, Carson City Literacy Volunteers offers tutoring to help.
Tutoring is providing on an individual basis – one tutor to one student – so the student is able to progress at his or her own pace, taking as long as needed to understand a particular lesson.
Tutoring is confidential. Tutors will never reveal the name or other information about their students. Student information is not provided to the government or any other agency.
Tutoring days and times can be set to match the student’s schedule.
